RV Maintenance Checklist

An RV is a great investment for those who love to travel. They can also be pricey to repair if something goes wrong. To prevent pricey repairs, it’s important to keep up with maintenance; and RVs require a lot of maintenance. If you’re new to the RV game, you may not know everything it takes to keep your RV functioning perfectly. Below, we give you an RV maintenance checklist to go over before you hit the road.

  • Check all of your fluid levels including engine oil, transmission fluid, power steering fluid, brake fluid, and wiper fluid.
  • Check your air filter and clear it of debris. Replace your air filter if it is damaged.
  • Check for and repair any leaks.
  • Check your radiator fluid and ensure it’s at the right level to avoid overheating.
  • Ensure that all radiator hoses and heater clamps are in proper functioning condition.
  • Check your belts for signs of wear or cracks. Replace if necessary
  • Check All Lights
  • Check your wiper blades for wear and poor operation
  • Check your tire pressure and threads.
  • Ensure that your emergency kit is fully stocked
  • Check you’re A/C and replace filter if necessary
  • Check your appliances including the refrigerator, heater, and gas supply
  • Flush your holding tank
  • Check your fire extinguishers, smoke alarm, carbon monoxide and LP gas leak detector.
  • Check your brakes every six months
  • Check the suspension and axles before every trip
  • Once a month, check your battery for corrosion, and clean and adjust if needed
  • Pull out the converter and inspect connectors, fuses and breakers

Go through this RV maintenance checklist and get the most life out of your RV. For more information on maintenance, check your RV’s user manual. They will have loads of information that is specific to your RV.
